MP9 won't play video

Windows media player won't play any video. I've got
audio, but no picture.

direct x 9 is instaled and I have tried installing mp9
several times. It does not show up in my remove programs
list or my start menu. I have not tried manuallly
removing it yet. thought that that was a little drastic.

any help?
