MP3 Player error

I have a Nike MP3 and am running XP home. I plugged in
the player, but XP did not have the drivers so I put the
driver disc in. I unplugged the player without clicking
on the "safely remove hardware" button. Now, I can't use
the player. Whenever I plug it in, XP just dings and
ignores it, like it is not recognizing it as new
hardware. Nothing is installed with respect to it, as
far as I can tell. I uninstalled all drivers, etc., but
I can't get it to work. XP will not recognize it as a
drive. Help!! TIA.

I assume you mean you plugged it into a USB port ?

For USB based hardware that Xp cannot 'recognise' or needs specific software
you should do the following :

Do NOT connect your player via the USB port. Install the software first on
your PC. When finished it may well ask you to connect your Nike Mp3 to a USB
port. Do this and it should be ready for use. The big thing about USB is
that you can unplug it 'hot', ie whilst the PC is running. Same thing for
plugging in.

If that doesn't work, go to the manufacturer's website and consult their
FAQ's.

Cheers,
Jerry
