usb mp3 player, not working

wen i plug in my usb mp3 player (having all ready installed the softwear and
relavent drivers on the cd given) i get the ding dong to say its pluged in
then it ding dongs agen and its not there ? any one help me ? dont know the
make of it coz there is no name on the fron of it or on any of the packageing

When you plug in your MP3 player and it "ding-dongs" that means that XP
has recognized the player. But, if you do not turn it on, XP cannot read it
and will close the player with another "ding-dong". I turn mine on before
plugging it in and it works fine that way. :~)
