MP3 icons all generic file icons - cant get back to winamp icon

At some point just recently all the mp3 icons changed to the generic blue
top-bar'd file on white sheet icon type.

they used to be the default winamp icon style.

they are still associated with winamp - changin gthat to WMP makes no
difference or changing back

changing icon size has no effect, refreshing the desktop; nothing

what happened?

you can regain total control over what icon shows on what file type with the
following free application:
Wassociate
http://www.xs4all.nl/~wstudios/Associate/index.html

You type .mp3 in the box and you press the button that has the icon on it,
then you locate the icon or exe or .dll that has the icon you want in it,
(in your case winamp.exe) and select the new icon.

Tell me if this helps!

This may be rather obvious, but have you tried restarting Winamp?
Reinstalling?

..then open the options dialog, the file types section, then click associate to be sure.

This isn't really a solution to your problem but take a look at MP3Ext (http://www.mutschler.de/mp3ext/). It displays custom icons
with the actual bit-rate per file. For example, a 192KB MP3 will have an icon with "192" on it while a 128KB MP3 file will have an
icon with "128" on it and so on. Check it out, you may like it.
