My pc has a old HDD and I want to get bigger one. The problem is that I can't
afford a new OEM and want to install the OEM I already have to a new HDD? In
other words reistalling to a new hardrive!!! I know I could use Drive copy
but can't afford it and would like to know if I install the same OEM that is
regestered to me will it have any problems with getting Updates... The other
post does not answer if for me that is why I am making this post!

The version I have is Winxp SP2 Home.

The drive manufacturer usual;ly provides a program to help you move it.
Also, since all you are changing is the hard drive - if you have the the
installation CDs/keys and make backups of your data (email, contacts,
favorites, documents, pictures, etc) - reinstalling should not be a problem.

You can forget the oem utilitys, they wont work in xp,certainly not with SP2
installed, those utilitys are for older windows OS.Try installing the new
drive
on same IDE cable as C:,set as slave,in xp,go to run, type:diskmgmt.msc In
msc R.click on the new drive, select, format. When its thru exit msc,go to run,
type:XCOPY C:\*.* D:\ /c/h/e/k/r Agree to all in the DOS window,when the
window closes, youre thru. Also,D: being the new hd,although if asigned diff-
rent letter use that letter instead of D:
