Moving the Pagefile

D

Dutch

I have a server in our network that has been formated with
a c: drive of 3GB and a D: of 80GB. The RAM on this
machine is 1.5GB, so therefore I have a Pagefile of around
2.25GB. This is causing a problem as it is taking so much
of the C: drive space. I am concerened that if I move the
Pagefile through the Advanced Option under System Tools
that it will have a negative impact on the performance of
the server. I would appreciate any information that you
may be able to give me that will assist in me fixing this
problem. I would prefer to move the Pagefile than have to
reformat the box and re-partition the drives. If I cant
move it then is there any other way that I can reduce the
pagefile size to free up some disk space? Any assistance
would be greatly appreciated.

There is no problem with moving the page file to D. It will not cause a
problem with performance. It will just require a reboot.

Thank you for your reply, I however forgot to mention that
the C: Drive is formatted as FAT32 and the D: is NTFS.
Will it still be ok to change the page file over to the D:?
Once again many thanks...

Yes it is still ok to move the page file. There is no difference in this
between FAT32 and NTFS.
