Moving Service Pack Files to a CD?

P

Pegleg

Someone said this can be done but I didn't understand how he said to do
it...if the SPFiles are removed from C;\winnt\ServicePackFiles and
placed on a cd what then needs to be done in the registry to point to a
separate cd so they can be found when needed?

TIA

[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup]
Name: ServicePackSourcePath
Double-click "ServicePackSourcePath" and enter the path to the
"ServicePackFiles" folder on the CD.

If the CD drive is E: and the "ServicePackFiles" folder and the /contents/
of this folder is copied to the root directory of the CD, you would enter
the path as "e:\ServicePackFiles" without the quotes. The CD must have
"e:\ServicePackFiles" with the entire content of the ServicePackFiles for
the System File Checker to function correctly.

Example:

1. Copy "c:\winnt\servicepackfiles" contents to "e:\servicepackfiles".
2. Open the registry as navigate to:
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup]

3. Double click "ServicePackSourcePath" and enter "e:\ServicePackFiles"
4. Click OK.
5. Exit the Registry.
