Moving member server into another domain

Can I safely move a member server into a different domain?
We have a SQL server in it own 'workgroup' we access it
by ip address and machine name, we would now like to move
it into the company domain. The ip address and machine
name will not change.
1. Can this be done
2. Will it affect access to the sql service?
