Moving MDW file

I moved the file MDW from one server to another. I then
updated the shortcut command line to read the new server.
When I open the MDB file using the shortcut I get the
following error:

"Open this database using the shortcut on your
workstation. If the shortcut has been deleted see the
database adminstrator."

The intial shortcut target command line was:
"C:\Program Files\MICROS~2
\Office\MSACCESS.EXE" "\\anyserver\pfunds
database\301Code2000.mdb" /user Admin /pwd
password /wrkgrp \\server1\PubFundsAuth\PUBFUNDS.MDW

The new shortcut target command line is:
"C:\Program Files\MICROS~2
\Office\MSACCESS.EXE" "\\anyserver\pfunds
database\301Code2000.mdb" /user Admin /pwd
password /wrkgrp \\server2\PubFundsAuth\PUBFUNDS.MDW

The only file moved was the MDW. The MDB file is located
on the same server it always has been.

Is the problem due to copying the file? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks, JR

Same rights and privileges to the new location of the mdw file? Does it work
if you move the mdw file to your c: drive?

I tried moving the mdw file to the c: drive - Same problem.
I am a domain administrator so I have all rights.

Nice suggestion though, good thinking. Any other ideas?

Thanks, JR

Hi JR,

I'll have to defer this to the other experts, I could not reproduce the
error you're getting. With the setup you have, one other thing I would try
is to move the MDW file somewhere (a different folder, or maybe a subfolder
of its current location), BUT keep it in server1. If this doesnt work, then
maybe it's an issue with the MDW file (i.e. corruption)

What if you use the long file name i.e.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\.....

Also is that the exact error message you are getting? It sounds more like a
custom message. Check the startup forms, autoexec macro, etc.

"C:\Program Files\MICROS~2
\Office\MSACCESS.EXE" "\\anyserver\pfunds
database\301Code2000.mdb" /user Admin /pwd
password /wrkgrp \\server2\PubFundsAuth\PUBFUNDS.MDW

Thanks all!, especially you Joan. The message was a custom
message. The module was hidden, but I found it and made
the corrections. It now works. If you didn't ask the
question I would have probably never figured it out.
Thanks, JR
