In the event that one day I need to re-format my C drive and re-install XP,
I want to move the current location of 'My Documents' which is:
"C:\Documents and Settings\joe\My Documents"
to let's say:
"D:\Documents and Settings\joe\My Documents"
This way if I re-format my C drive and re-install XP on C, all the data in
'My Documents' on my D drive will remain intact.
I realize that 'My Documents' is a system folder, so I don't want to break
anything in moving it's location. Can I do this safely in this way:
1. drag the 'My Documents' folder that is in "C:\Documents and
Settings\joe" and drop it in the
"D:\Documents and Settings\joe" folder that I created on my D drive. (Is
'Documents and Settings' folder also a sytem folder? If yes maybe just drop
it in a folder called: "D:\joe")
2. Create a short cut in "C:\Documents and Settings\joe" folder called 'My
Documents' that points to: "D:\Documents and Settings\joe\My Documents".
Is this the safe way to do this? Is there a better way?
Thanks...
