Old PC is XP Home with Outlook 2002. New PC is Vista Home Premium

Where should I move the .pst files from the old PC on the new PC so that
Winodws Live mail can import them?

OR

Suppose on old PC I import into Outlook Express 6 from Outlook and OE6
creates dbx files --
Where on new PC should I put dbx files so that Winodws Live mail can import
them?

OR

What else do I need to do?

(Editorial comment - this seems much harder than I thought it would be)

Thanks-
Steve

There are Office and Outlook specific groups, also
microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop for Windows Live Mail related
issues. This seems like a question for one of those. This is a Windows
Mail discussion group, Windows Mail being a component of Vista and distinct
from Windows Live Mail.

I don't know how you would do this without having Outlook installed on the
same pc as WLM. I am not sure that WLM would find your .pst files unless
they were in the place where Outlook puts them, and I don't think that it
would expect .dbx files on a Vista computer either.

There are two choices:

1. Install the trial version of Outlook 2007 on the Vista machine, with
Outlook 2002 closed on the XP machine, make a copy of your current .PST
file, place in on the Vista machine where it won't overwrite any existing
..PST files, Open it using 'File|Open|Outlook Data File', and perform your
transfer to Windows Mail. Outlook must be present to access the .PST file,
something Windows Mail cannot do itself.

2. Transfer everything from Outlook 2002 to Outlook Express on the XP
machine, copy all the .DBX files into a folder on the Vista machine, then
use these instructions to go from OE to WM:
