Migrating Outlook Express 6 on old PC to Microsoft Mail on new PC

Others have asked about migrating from OE6 to Mail, but the answers given in
Help and here assume that Outlook Express is on the same PC. I am trying to
get my files that are in OE6 on an old XP PC to Mail on the new Vista PC. I
have a data transfer cable that I have used for all my other data, but can
not find the right files to transfer. I was able to get the contacts over,
but not messages. I can find the dbx files on the old PC, but Mail does not
want to import them. Does anyone have the steps for getting all my folders
and messages over?

It does not assume that OE & WM are on the same PC as that scenario is
impossible. WM cannot be installed on anything other than Vista & OE
cannot be installed on Vista.
Copy the OE store dir across & import from that.
It works, I have done it myself a few times for other people.

Richard,

I copied all my old OE .dbx files in to my MM directory and told it to
import them but .dbx files are invisible to MM.

I did it with a copy of the entire OE store dir, not just the dbx files.
Not sure if that matters or not.
