Will be moving to xp this week set is being done via a shared broadband
connection (router something or other) My son is doing all this as I haven`t a
clue.I understand I will be using one of his bins for email. My main concern is
security for my own system ( as in my PC versus his PC) ,should I have any
concerns or is it pretty well protected, can he access my email or anything else
for that matter?
thanks

Yes, you should always be aware of and concerned about security. And
it's probably prudent for you to take a bit of time now to learn a bit more.

1. The upgrade won't be done via shared broadband. Your son will have
to do this with hands-on the ocmputer the XP CD. During this upgrade he
will have full access to your entire machine.

2. I don't know what you mean about "his bins for email".

3. If you give your son your email password, or share his "bin"
(whatever that is) likely he will have access to your email.

4. WIth a broadband connection to internet, make sure you have a
firewall, virus protection, and all windows updates applied.

I feel there is a whole lot more to say, but not sure what ot say that
will will make sense. Good luck.

Thanks for reply.
Yes he is doing XP at my pc all my `personal` files have been zipped and
password protected on a secondary harddrive so thats ok.Aparrently on his
broadband he has 3 `bins` for email each one sperate passwords I will get one
of them. I suppose I am concerned that he could set something up that will
monito me on my PC through the router network thing he is doing for broadband.
