Movie Transfer to DV Camera

I have a JVC DV Camera. I used the connection cable that came with the camera which connects to the USB port, but Windows Movie Maker program insists that I need an IEEE 1394 connection. I don't have that on my computer. I've ready online help, etc. saying that it can be done through the USB port, but I am having no luck. Please help. It's for a Christmas present. Thank you.

The USB connection is for transfer of still images - sometimes called
PhotoShots. The IEEE1394 Firewire connectin is for transfer of moving
images - eg both audio and video.

Purchase a firewire PCI card....
