movie maker

I am trying to make a movie with the movie maker 2
program that came with my Toshiba Satellite laptop with
XP Pro.. I am using a Sony DCR-TRV260 digital video
camera and a Startech ieee 1394 card for best quality
video.

One of the problems I'm having is that when I attempt to
capture video, I can not see it in the preview screen
even though I have the preview box checked (the video
captures regardless, but I would still like to preview
it). Then, when the video plays back, it plays at a
slightly faster rate than the original recording and
drops sound.

Is there anything I can do to fix these things?
