Movie Maker Vista problems

Michael Lemire

I have been a user of Movie Maker for at least 3 to 4 years. I use it
professionally in my video business. Recently I upgraded from XP to Vista
and now have the new version of Movie Maker. The new program is virtually
un-usable to me because the two effects that I use most often in my videos,
have changed significantly.

Both the "Ease In" and "East Out" effects move so quickly on the photos,
that I can't use them at all. I understand that if I change the length of
the clip, it'll render the effects more slowly. However the speed at which
these two effects moved on the old Movie Maker was perfect for my personal
use and now to have to change the length of the clips, changes my ability to
make movies for clients. In order to get the "Ease In" and "Ease Out"
effects to work the way they used to, I have to lengthen the clip so much
that it changes the whole effect of the movie and photograph. It has to be
on the screen way too long for it to be at a reasonable speed.

I need to be able to use those two effects the way they used to be. Is there
any fix for this problem???? If there isn't, I need to resort back to XP. I
really do not want to have to do this. I like the speed and usefulness of
Vista, but this problem is a true deal-breaker for me.

Please tell me that there is something that will remedy this problem

Thank you very much.

I haven't tested them closely enough to say which one is best.... off hand I
can think of three places to look for what you need in Vista...

- the Pixelan packages and it's Pan/Zoom making utility
- Rehan's Pan/Zoom maker
- custom effect code at the forums at WindowsMovieMakers.net

I'm assuming that, as a long term user, you just need the pointers and not
the links

After trying all of the options supplied, I found that it has nothing to do
with the effect but my version of MM running on my x64 system. If I create
a project on another computer running Vista x32 I have no problems. It's
when I use the ease in effect on my Vista system running x64 that it eases
in to fast. Even if I stretch the clip out 15 seconds it zooms to fast. If I
do the same thing on my other system it works fine. Any ideas what could be
causing this?

Thanks
