Movie Maker keeps freezing when used for the first time

Hello,

I have had this problem with Movie Maker recently, where it freezes when I
try to save video I made to my computer. It only happens the first time I
start Movie Maker after turning on my PC. When I get out of it using Task
Manager and then get back in, it saves the very same video without any
problems. It's been happening to videos of different sizes (from 3 to 25 MB)
and different formats (wmv and mpeg). In addition, when it does save my video
when opened for the second time, one of the commands I use from edit menu
(i.e. 'Clear Storyboard') will stay on the screen as a strip even after I get
out of Movie Maker and will not go away until I shut down my computer.
Anybody has any ideas on what it could possibly be??? Thanks!

Hi
I to have hads this problem. It happem=ns an awful lot whilst editing,
TOWARDS thbe wnd of my "film". It frightens me to death that I might use
weeks of toil. However, I have found on each occasion MM has saved my work
and it has (so far), come back after aborting..What concerns me mostly is the
dreadful moment when I want to save all my work as a movie....will I lose it
all? Good luck...I'df like to add that many of my problems have been solved
by the book written by papajohn.. Movie Maker 2..this is not a plug..it is a
damn good book, very readable and constructive

Thanks Darcy,

Just so people don't think the book is the place to look for answers to
problems like freezing and hanging.... the book covers the basics about how
to use Movie Maker, and my website is the place for the problems and what
can be done about them.

The basics stay the same but the problems come and go.
