movie maker II video and audio capture from camcorder tape

Chuck

I am trying to get my camcorder tape to movie maker II.
I have the cannon ZR85 camcorder. I can get to the
capture preview window, but video is scrambled,
distorted. Audio comes through. I have the ieee1394
firewire card and cable connects to my camcorder. Is
there some kind of setting I don't know about to make
this darn thing work ???? I've tried everything I can
possibly think of with no results. Any help pertaining
to this problem will be greatly appreciated, thanks,
Chuck.

As an aid to seeing if there is a software problem you could try using
WinDV (free) to download the movie from your camera - the results of
that test should give you an idea of where to find the problem - eg if
that doesn't work then look at connections, drivers, etc - if it does
work then look at WMM itself - maybe try a re-install

Do you happen to have SP2 installed? We've seen this issue on the Canon MV20
with SP2 (but not with SP1)
Thanks

I do have similar problem as "chuck" has with my Panasonic NV-GS70 camcorder
and XP Home SP2. I tried same firewire card, cable and camera in friends PC
which has XPSP2 Professional, it works fine there. Is there problem with
XPSP2 Home edition?
