movie maker files to vcd

Can anyone please tell me if it is possible to burn a movie
maker project as a vcd to enable viewing through a home dvd
player and if so,how?

Not directly. You have to save the movie to your hard drive and then use
other software to make your VCD. See the CD Burning section of my site for
some pointers to what is being used.

You can make a VCD using two free softwares:

1. TMPGenc http://www.tmpgenc.net
2. VCDEasy http://www.vcdeasy.org

Convert your DV-AVI or WMV using TMPGenc to MPEG1 format.
Then use VCDEasy to author and burn the VCD

Hi.

I am also a new fan of MM2.
I used ArcSoft Show Biz Editor to convert to VCD. However, I am forced to
choose a Mpg 1 or Mpg 2 format. In the Mpg 1 format, the software limited the
size of my display to 300 x something. In the Mpg 2 format, the display size
was slightly better. However, The VCD Mpg 2 format was not recognised by my
VCD player. In general, does it mean that whenever I want to convert my movie
projects to VCD, am constrained by the 300 x something size display??? If you
try to play the 300 x something size display on a TV screen the output is
horid...

Hope someone can enlighten.

Yes, VCD (good), SVCD (better) and DVD (best) formats are fixed by their
standards.
