movie file simultaneously with presentation

I have a movie file, with music also, that I want to run simultaneously with
a 40 page power point presentation. The slides are automatically set to
transition every 2 seconds and I want the movie file to just go with them
from start to finish, seamlessly.

You can set a movie to play across multiple slides. Look for the 'play movie
across multiple slides' tutorial at this page:

A few considerations will be timing is not perfect, so don't plan to make
animations and transitions occur at the same instance every time... Also,
movies always play onto of all PowerPoint content.
