Moved from ACT! to BCM

Moved all my contact data from ACT to BCM, and eventhough all company the information is aready available under contacts I still have to imput the information when creating a new accounts and/or a new business contacts..
Is there an easy way to do this? the ACT! data base is large and I don't have the time to imput everything a new..
The reason for migrating to BCM was to have only one program, but so fat BCM seems to fall short on intregrating Outlook contacts into BCM either as accounts or Business contacts..
Any help is apprecuated..

I'm currently a long time Act user. In your opinion, how
does BCM stand up to ACT? Is it worth moving everything
from ACT to BCM?

Thanks,

The items in your Outlook Contacts folder are separate from the ones that BCM uses. They do not integrate as BCM contacts, although you can copy them to the BCM folders.

One thing that might be interesting to try is to see whether the free Pocket Contact Synchronizer tool from Microsoft does a decent job of copying data from the BCM Business Contacts folder to the Contacts folder and keeping it up to date.

We have very mixed feelings... The ONLY reason for the upgrade was to have only ONE program vs. two...The Integration with the Contact list from Outlook and BCM is for all practical purposes "0". If you change the information eithe on the account or business contact it does not update your contact list on outlook... In some instances, depending on how you have setup the account on ACT! you may have to input the information for that "customer" specially if it was a business contact and it is now an account..

Maybe there is an easier way to do this integration between the contact list of Outlook and BCM, we sure have not found it... So if someone knows a better way let us know...

Hi! Sue
We pretty much noticed that there is no integration betweem BCM and the Contact list of Outlook, which is a shame and a difficiency of BCM... If we make a change on BCM it does not change the Contact info on Outlook... We have tried the Contact Sync as such and using the ActiveSync but it really only works for the Contacts on Outlook not for BCM..
Unless we are doing it wrong..

Sue:

Any opinions on the danger of trying a OL2002 add-in with 2003? Its one
thing if it doesn't work. But its another thing entirely if it MESSES UP
OL2003. In an effort to take one step forward I at least don't want to take
3 steps backward.

I'd ask the maker of the add-in whether they've tested it with 2003, but most should be OK. Back up your data first just in case. Or use a different profile for testing.

Been an ACT! user for years. It really is an all in one application i
you set up your email as internet mail. Microsoft has started a goo
thing with the BCM. However, there is no need to reinvent the wheel
ACT! has been doing this a long time and they are good at it. It sync
well, has a good calendar, is second to none with contact management
can manage email and is a pretty good internet browswer

Thanks for your post. After reading your post and others
on this board, I'm sticking with Act. For the past 5-7
years of using Act, I have to agree with what you say.
Plus, I know the application like the back of my hand.
Thanks to all for your insight and saving me about $450
in buying the Professional realease.
