Move XP License to new Hard Drive

My XP-Home license is on an old/small/slow hard drive.
I've added a 2nd drive (WD 120GB, 7200rpm). I used the WD
Data Lifeguard tools to (image?) copy all of the old
partitions onto the new drive. I tried relabelling the
drives and got Error Code 0x80090006*.

How do I get the license moved so I can boot and run the
Win-XP from the new drive? And relabel the new boot
partition to C: rather than the present K:?

* 0x80090006: "A problem is preventing Windows from
accurately checking the license for this computer."

Re-install everything from scratch. Physically remove the old hard disk,
replace it with the new hard disk, and re-install Windows and your
applications. Windows will not reject the Product Activation if you upgrade
the system, unless you upgrade so many components that the new system bears
no resemblance to the old one.
Only *after* you have got Windows up and running, and re-installed your
applications should you re-insert the old drive (with its switches set to
slave from master -- consult your documentation to tell you how) and copy
over from it to the new drive the information you wish to keep. Then remove
the old drive again, and use it (if you use it at all) just for backup
purposes.

This is an OEM version of XP, so Re-install of XP is not
an option as it only exists on the hard drive. The
applications are retail so I can reinstall them but don't
feel I should have to, given that I have done an image
copy. All I want to do is to move the OS to the new drive
in the same computer and, as you say, use the old drive
for disk-to-disk backup of data, plus pagefile.sys. If I
pull the old drive now, I dont' get to a login screen.

It's been suggested that I retry the copy process using
Ghost. Sadly, my Ghost is 2001 and doesn't work with XP,
so it's time to upgrade that, too.

I've been having problems with the Windows versions of
Drive Image, i.e. versions 7.0 and 7.01, so PowerQuest has
recommended that I try Drive Image 2002, the older DOS
version - which they say works with WinXP. Since DI 2002
comes "free" with the DI 7.0 CD, it may be worth a try.
