Move Windows XP harddisk to new computer - change to new reg.numbe

I want to move a "old" harddisk with an OEM Windows XP license to a new
computer and change XP to a new OEM license. I know how to change licence
number but since it is a new hardware including motherboard the Windows XP
has to reconfigure it settings to the new hardware.

- Will XP do this without a total reinstallation?

My hope is be able to move an old harddisk to a new computer, change license
number an keep all old program without need of reinstallation of the XP.
