Hello,

I need to move my Windows 2000 Server (and Exchange Server) onto a new
hardware machine (HP DL380). The old one was with an IDE controller
and the new one with a SCSI controller only.

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE...

I know that is a driver problem.... but how can I install this drivers
and when do i have to do it ?

I try to use the Sysprep tools from Microsoft... but that tools is not
to do that
I try to install the driver before i do my Norton Ghost Image.. that
don't work.
I try to do a Repair with the Windows 2000 CD... that don't work.

Help please, I am so ...

thx in advance

From what I remember from an earlier post, boot from the Win2K CD and
choose to install Win2K rather than repair. Setup will then attempt to
find any pre-existing Win2K installs. I believe there is a repair option
there that works better than the repair option at the start of Setup.

is the drive recognised by the MB bios ?
is the MB setup to boot from scsi as a boot device option ?
has the scsi bios been setup properly to boot from the
appropriate scsi ID ? or oanother way - has the scsi ID of
you boot scsi drive been set to 0
is your scsi controller hardware compatible with win2K if no
when booting from the win2K CD select F6 when you are
prompted to install any specific drivers, you will need to
have the drivers on floppy or CD to install them then do the
repair using fixmbr and fixboot

If the MB and other hardware is significantly different
fromt he original setup it is ppossible that even this will
not work. It works best when the hardware configuration is
nearly identical to the original

good luck

Geoff
