move web to Web Folders from localhost

Cindy

A convenience question.

In both FP 2K and 2002, I can publish webs I've developed on line to my
local host. When I go to FP -> Open Web I see the Web Folders option. It
seems like the new webs are not there. Instead there is a folder in Web
Folders that says "localhost". The new webs are there in "localhost" and
seem to work. Is there a way I can get those web names up into the Web
Folders display and out of where they are on "localhost"?

-If that is confusing..I just want to save a click and have them appear in
the Open Web ->Web Folders display and not have to go another step into the
localhost directory to find them.

Thanks

Were you by chance trying to publish these Webs to a local
Web Server?

If so, open each one, publish it to
http://localhost/webname, and then delete the original.

Otherwise, pen each Web in Web Folders/localhost, publish
it to Web Folders, and then delete localhost.

Yes...if I publish from a web that is on line to my local server:
http://www.myweb.com published to http://localhost/myweb the published web
does not end up in: FrontPage - File - Open Web - Web Folders. Instead it
ends up in a folder in "Web Folders" named "localhost", so I have to dig to
another layer to get to it inside of "localhost". When I open it there and
try to republish it as you suggest, there is a message basically saying you
cannot publish a web to itself.

Some of my webs (on localhost) appear in the Web Folders, but others only
appear below "localhost". Just wondering how I can make them appear in
Front Page's Web Folders to make them easier to find.

Thanks

Cindy,

After you have publish the web to localhost, you need to open FP: File Menu
| Open Web and either open http://localhost or http://localhost/webname
thereafter you should see it in the File Menu | Open Web Dialog (look in:
Web Folders)

Uh, right. For each Web curently in Web Folders:

1. Open the Web (i.e. "Web Folders/subweb1").
2. Publish to localhost (i.e. "http://localhost/subweb1").

Then, all your Webs will be within http://localhost.
