Cannot find my new web (newbie)

W

Walter R.

I am using FP 2003 on the MS IIS Webserver with Win XP SP2.

On my computer, my active web is located at http://localhost/myweb

I would like to do some experimenting, without messing up my active web. I
"published" my web to http://localhost/myweb2

FrontPage opened a new web and published myweb to myweb2. Ok so far.

However, I cannot find myweb2. When I try to open it in My Network Places
(where all of my other webs are listed), myweb is there, but myweb2 is not
there.

myweb2 shows up ok in the wwroot folder in INETPUB. myweb2 also shows up in
the list of FP Server Extensions.

Where might I find myweb2???

Thanks in advance

Use File Menu | Open Site to open http://localhost, then double click the subweb/subsite to open.

Thanks Thomas

I think I have other problems: When I doubleclick on http://localhost, FP
tells me that it "is no longer available".

What is the best way to do a repair installation of FP 2003

What happens when you click File > Open Site and enter
http://localhost/myweb2

All I get is a message saying: File is not valid

I am resigned to reinstalling FP. I have a copy of my web on my hard drive.

When I do a new installation of FP, do I need to uninstall/reinstall IIS,
too? If so, in what sequence?

Thanks

Nope, don't reinstall FP, that's not the problem.

Reinstalling FP has nothing to do with IIS.

You need to go into computer management and see what is actually in IIS.
Right click My computer and select Manage.

Scroll down to and click the plus by Services and Applications.
Click the plus by Internet Information Services.
Click the plus by Web Sites
Click the plus by Default Web site.
In the list that shows do you see folders ( directories actually ) for myweb
and myweb2??

If so, right click Default web site, scroll to All tasks and select "check
server extensions"
