Mouse wont let me compouter go on standby

As I was trying to make my computer go on standby a dialog box came up
saying that the device driver for the ps2 mouse wont let the system go on
standby. What is happening here as I cant get my machine to go on standby!

No answer why but a possible solution until mouse driver problem is fixed.
Try keyboard with Win key (one with MS flag logo) which gets Start menu. Up
arrow key to highlight "Turn off computer..."; Enter to get shutdown dialog
box; Tab or l-r arrow keys to highlight desired shutdown process (You want
Standby.); Enter to cause it to occur.
