mouse wheel

My cordless serial PS/2 mouse wheel decided to stop
working. Dialogue box says "this device is working
properly." I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled same
but not until I received a message that the CD mouse
driver was not comparable with XP. So I downloaded v 4.1
from MSFT. Wheel still doesn't work. Any mouse experts
out there? (I even gave it some cheese).

The mouse buttons work fine as does the wheel function
when depressed. Just won't scroll.

have you checked the [wheel] tab in mouse properties
window....might be set to wrong.

You need to run the mouse control panel, click Wheel and use the
Trouble Shooter to get wheel working in applications. Its annoying but
this method usually works.

You could have dirt, lint and dead skin cells that have made
their way into the mouse wheel area. Besides the software
set-up, try some compressed air and toothpicks to clean the
gunk out.
