That would depend on the type of mouse that you owned and if the mouse had
that capability. I'm guessing that you mean when you press the scroll button
down you want it to navigate back a page. I have here a Microsoft
IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 that I'm using right at this moment. With this
mouse you'd simply open the mouse properties from the control panel or from
the start menu > programs > Microsoft Mouse > mouse properties and adjust it
to the settings you want. Given that this is in an XP group I'm hoping that
you've some sort of mouse that has these capabilities and you should be able
to find it in your control panel. If you can't see it in your control panel
than all you need to do is click 'switch to classic view' and it should
appear. I can do the same thing with my Logitec mice as well but I don't
have one on this computer at the moment but I'm pretty sure that you can
figure it out by yourself from here on out. I think that the reason I prefer
the mouse that I have at the moment is I'm often using 800x600 resolution
while coding html (as it's the 'standard' that most people have) and I end
up scrolling from side to side often and this mouse has sideways scrolling
enabled which, to be honest, is just too nifty for words. It's wireless and
optical so it's pretty decent. Batteries, under heavy usage, usually last
anywhere from 8 to 12 months if you buy decent batteries. Why do I tell you
this? If you don't have the ability to do this with your mouse than you
should probably consider buying a new mouse at some point and I'd recommend
one of these mice or a decent Logitec if you want one that's a bit less
expensive.

Cheers,

Galen

I have the same at home. But I want this facility on a non-MS, non-Logitec

To program buttons or the wheel for different functions, you need to
install the software for the mouse. Most mouse drivers cover basic
operations only (left/right click and scroll/scroll lock).

Go to control panel, click on mouse, on the logitech mouse panel select
buttons and click the button you want to change and click modify and select
"back". If you don't have logitech mouseman software, tough luck.

My Laptop BT mouse does not come with any software. It's not needed for the
mouse to operate.

I do have the Logitech Mousman software installed on my laptop. It works
fine with my Logitech wired mouse, but its settings have no effect on my BT
"Think Outside" mouse.
