Mouse Spazzing

OK, I have a problem with my mouse, and I'm not sure if it is the mouse, or
the computer. Whenever I'm on the internet or have a program running, the
mouse (at least ever ten minutes, will spaz out and go all over the screen
and it always closes the program I'm currently looking at, and will open
something else. Do I need a new mouse?

Your computer may have a virus or other nasty infection.

Or, maybe your mouse has been living alone too long and is
seeking a mate...hence it's erratic behaviour.

nasty like the politically incorrect and nasty term used (spaz). It's not
clever.

couple of things come to mind:

1) do you have anything else connected to a serial port ??
Lots of people have had that issue with a GPS -- if it is hooked
up and on when you boot the PC, it thinks the NMEA strings
from the GPS are some sort of positioning commands and
drives it nuts.

2) Is it a wireless mouse ?? If so, you may be getting
interference from some other wireless device around.

3) I have seen issues with USB mice on XP where it
will start wandering.

4) too much coffee ??

Try a new mouse.
