Mouse selects automatically

Hi,

I have a problem since a few days,
my mouse selects automatically folder or links, it selects everything.
I had this problem before like sometimes in a game i shoot without pressing
the mouse button but now it happens everywhere and all the time.
As example i pass on a link and it selects it, or a folder. Sometimes i just
don't touch anything and then i move the mouse and the select button is "on"
so i have this selection square that appears. If i'm writing a document and
my pointer is 1 or 2 lines higher then because of that auto-selection i
happen to continue writing from where the pointer is, and so on ...

Do you have any idea where the problem comes from ?
I haven't installed anything.

It could be a mouse problem. Do you have another mouse you can try, at least
for diagnostic purposes? I don't know if it is safe to switch mice while the
system is up so if it were me I would do a shtudown each time I changed the
mice.

Well yes I tried with another mouse, and without any because it's a laptop.
But the problem is still there.
I was carefull not to touch the mousepad, I thought maybe I'm touching it
without knowing, but no it doesn't change anything.
