Mouse Problem

I use xp professional on an hp celeron machine. All works fine except the mouse which often does not move after boot up. I have to shut down and restart a number of time. Device Manager says it is installed and running properly. Any advice?

Try different mouse.
Had the same problem with my mouse. Finally changed to
USB mouse and works great now. Non-wheel mouse too.
