Mouse problem

Here's a good one, I walked away from the computer for a few moments and one
of the cats decided to walk on the keyboard. Now when I point my mouse at
anything, everything on the screen is highlighted. I can't even get into the
control panel to change mouse settings? Any idea what she did and how I fix
it.

Is the Ctrl key stuck down? wiggle it.
