Mouse pointer turns to hour glass frequently with Word2003

Whenever Word is open the mouse pointer turns to the hour glass whether I'm
typing or not. I haven't checked with other office programs, but it does not
do it with internet explorer or other applications. It is a new install on a
puter with 512 MB of RAM - so I don't think its a memory problem. Any
suggestions? SHould I run detect and repair? HELP Please!

Aye run detect and repair.

are the files you're trying to open got a lot of graphics?

You might also consider doing an adaware / virus scan, then reboot and
reopen word.

Hi Jonty,
I will run the detect and repair. But to clarify this happens when there is
no document open and when there is np document trying to open. It is just
idle on my screen. Even if it is minimized the hour glass appears.
