Mouse pointer displays pop-up menus when idle??

I do not where to change the settings that cause my mouse pointer displays
pop-up menus when it has not moved for 5-10 seconds. It is very annoying.
Also, when I mouse over say a menu item, it selects the option without me
clicking it, also very annoying. I have tried mouse settings from Control
Panel, maybe it is something very simple, I am just tired. BTW: I finally got
my computer up and running...

Check Control Panel\Folder Options\General Tab and make sure Double Click to
open (single click to select) is checked. As for the pop-ups Control
Panel\Folder Options\View Tab. Scroll down to the last line and uncheck
Show Popup description for desktop and folders. Hope this takes care of
your problem.

Run the edit entitled "Enable or Disable Active Window Tracking"
at line 171 on this site:

Be sure to click on "Disable" !

Well I tried all of the suggestions, thanks, for the most part it helped, but
the pop menus continue, I did everything from the posts, plus went back to
the Standard Mouse (default), from Mouse in Control Panel… These pop-ups are
not only annoying, but when I am typing, often they pop-up and cause me to
stop, click it away and then resume typing. Like I said I did all of the
suggestions above. Any other ideas?

Could it be the popups are coming from a program running in the background
such as Windows Messenger?
