mouse pointer disappears

My mouse pointer disappears whenever it is on top of words. It occurs on
websites and in Microsoft word. I have Windows Vista Small business and I
tried going into the control pannel and the mouse options and I can't seem to
find the right option to change. I tried hide pointer while typing and I
tried switching my pointer but nothing seems to work. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Is it a wireless mouse? If so, have you updated the driver? Is it a wired
USB mouse? If so, have you plugged it into a different port on the system to
see if it corrects the problem?

I have the same problem with Vista Home Basic on an Acer laptop. The problem
appears to be with a lot of the pointer styles but the 3D and Aero styles
work OK.
