Mouse Inactive Unless.......

My logitech mouse goes south about once a week. It just freezes. I can
correct the problem by disconnecting the USB cord and then reconnecting it.
My question is: Do I neede a new mouse.....or is something else going on ?

Thanks,

By all means, try the suggestion by "Elmo".

But also, do consider the fact that connecting / disconnecting (and that
includes any USB plug that is loose, not inserted properly or damaged) any
new USB device to the same hub that the mouse is plugged into, can freeze
the mouse up completely and rebooting is the only way to "un-freeze" it.

This also applies to the mouse's connection itself. If it looses the
integrity of it's connection to the PC for just a second, it will freeze.
This could be caused by damaged wiring in it's cable or the USB connection
becoming worn and loose due to it being a very old mouse.

The best way to check is try another USB mouse on the system, if it works
fine when plugged into the same port as the old one, then you will know it
was your old mouse that had developed a fault.
