One my desktop computer running XP Pro SP2:

The computer has leanred a new, bad habit - if I do not move the mouse
for about a minute or so, it becomes 'frozen'. To get the mouse to
move, a mouse button must be clicked. This ahppens with all apps - from
the desktop, to browsers, etc.

I checked the system restore points to see what had happened recently,
and the only changes were the MS updates five days ago and an Adobe
Acrobat update four days ago. Other then this, not other installations
or changes.

Any ideas how to fix this annoying problem?

Thanks!

Curt,

I started to respond by suggesting that your was a silly idea. But,
being scientifically inclined, I grabbed a pair of batteries out of the
charger and tried them.

Voila, problem gone.

To be perfectly honest, I would never have thought of trying this
approach. (So much for my PhD from a highly regarded school!) What's
worse, the problem would have been fixed in a couple of weeks and even
then I may not have correlated the events.

Anyway, next time you are in the Detroit metro area, give me a shout
and I'll treat you to a beer.
