msxml4 and mouse problems

Hi,

Few months ago I managed to resolve annoying mouse problems on my XP SP3 by
uninstalling msxml4 and applying the newest SPs.
The symptoms were:
1) mouse clicks were partially ignored on the login screen. I.e. I could
see the user cameo getting focus but the edit control accepting the password
would not display. I had to use tab key on the keyboard instead.
2) mouse clicks were [again] partially ignored in some apps. One example
was a Java application which I could not close - the 'x' in the top right
corner of its window did not respond to mouse clicks. I could move the
window around with no problems. Another example was a VNC client which
ignored mouse clicks after initial connection to a remote computer -
pressing ctrl+esc would 'awake' the mouse and it worked fine from that
point.
3) drag-and-drop of files did not work in Windows Explorer.

After removing and then updating msxml4 all the above problems went away.

Unfortunately the symptoms came back yesterday. I'm quite certain that this
has something to do with msxml4 again. Yesterday I installed Action Replay
software. I noticed that during installation msxml4 was being installed.
Right after the install the above symptoms re-appeared. I uninstalled
Action Replay and the followed the same procedure as few months ago but it
did not fix the problems this time.

Has anyone else run into similar problems? Any ideas how to solve this?

Thanks,
Bogdan

Yes, if it is still possible. How would I do that?
Thanks,
Bogdan

Do you want to perform a system restore to when it was working fine?
