Does the mouse work on any computer
Do the usb ports on your laptop work with any device.
Once you know both of these, plug the mouse back in and check the device
manager, it's possible (but pretty unlikely) that the mouse driver wasn't
detected or is corrupt in some way.
Check the laptops BIOS settings,
may be option for keyboard/mouse usb support.
Also may be that legacy touchpad (finger mouse) locked.
Once that is checked...look into control panel >
devices > to see if mouse has been 'enabled'.
Odd times if using a wireless type of mouse they
need to be 'synchronized' with reciever..usually
a small button hidden somewhere on mouse or
reciever stand. Just for added info downwind.
