hello
I purchased a new Laptop
Acer Aspire 5535
Vista Home Premium SP 1 32 bit

still playing around with the mouse
trying to figure out how it works
how to use or find the wheel and
scrolling without pushing buttons at same time

Is there such a thing as plug in mouse for laptop?
my desktop mouse don't fit, lol

Generally just a small USB connected mouse will do the trick.
I use a £4.99 one with a scroll wheel.

You probably mean the touchpad. You can set touchpad controls from the Mouse
applet in Control Panel. Or you touchpad may have its own Control Panel
applet (like Synaptics).

Others have recommended wired USB mice and that's fine. I use a wireless
laptop mouse and really like it. This is the one I use:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104216

It comes in different colors and the drivers that come with it allow you to
set the controls. You don't need to buy it from NewEgg; you can find it (or
something similar) at local office supply/computer stores.

Batteries are such a pain.

My MS Wireless Optical mouse batteries last more than six months. I will
admit that my previous HP wireless mouse required replacing the
batteries about every six weeks. These are both for desktops. My laptop
Logitech wireless USB mouse has been running since last August on the
original batteries. In any case, the lack of wires is worth changing the
batteries once in a while.
