mouse drivers

I've had trouble with a mouse and wish to uninstall and re-install the
drivers. The driver I used was the one included in XP for an MS Intellipoint
Optical. When I went to uninstall there was an (advanced) next to the
uninstall button and I'd like to make sure that, when I uninstall the
Intellipoint driver, I'm uninstalling from my comp. and not from the
operating system itself. Seems obvious but, would rather be safe than sorry.

Thanks,

Have you tried just removing the mouse in Device Manager, then rebooting?
That should cause the OS to rediscover the mouse and reinstall the driver.
