Mouse Dragging Problem

My mouse works fine except for one thing. I tried several
mice so my mouse cannot be the problem. I try to drag a
box or window by holding and pressing the left button and
then draggin it however it requires me to press and hold
for longer than 3 seconds. It should drag right away. How
can i fix this problem? Therefore i can also not highlight
words or icons in both internet explorer and my desktop.
Please help A.S.A.P. this is driving me crazy!!!!!!??!?!

I'm not quite sure if this is your problem but...

Have a look at the settings for the mouse buttons (eg Control Panel ->
Printers and other hardware -> mouse -> buttons tab).

Take a look at the speed setting there.

As crazy as it may sound, try to update your video drivers. Also see if the
issue occurs in safe mode. if the issue does not occur in safe mode a video
driver update or "cleanboot" should asist.

We want to implement the Cleanboot process using MSCONFIG to rule out 3rd
party software as the cause of this issue. MSCONFIG from XP can be used on a
Windows 2000 Pro or Server client.

Go to Start\Run type in Msconfig and press OK.
Go to the Startup tab.
Click on "Disable All"
Go to the Services Tab
Click on "Hide all Microsoft Services"
Uncheck the 3rd party services that are left
Press OK twice to reboot.

Once your computer is restarted see if the issue still occurs. if it still
does go to Msconfig and select Enable All on the startup tab.
If the issue does not occur go to the Startup tab and select items 4 at a
time or so with reboots in between to narrow down the exact item causing
your problem.
