Mouse click pages up/down 2x

I have an interesting problem. When I click my mouse on the IE scroll bar
it pages up/down twice, rather than once. I'm using a Logitech MX500 USB
mouse, with the latest available Mouseware driver (9.78) installed. This
strange IE behavior only started recently. Over the past couple of days I
installed all the recommended/critical/security updates from the Microsoft
website, which I know included at least one pertaining to IE (Q824145, I
believe). At first, figuring it must be a problem with my mouse or its
driver, I tried uninstalling the Mouseware driver and using the built-in
Microsoft driver. That made no difference. I've since installed the newer
9.78 driver, but that also made no difference. I can plug the mouse into
my PS/2 port, via a USB-PS/2 adapter, and that makes no difference. This
problem does not occur with programs other than IE and OE (e.g. Notepad,
Xnews, and Word), making me think that it must specific to them (IE/OE).
Anyone else seen this problem before or can offer some guidance? Thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem which started yesterday
I think after I installed the latest windows critical
update as well. Havn't figured how to fix it yet though.

I have the same thing happening. VERY annoying. It only
happens on those machines where all critical updates have
been applied. How do we tell MS about it?

Microsoft knows about this.
If you click immediately under the indicator it will only scroll one page.

Glad to know I'm not alone on this one. I guess the critical update has
bitten us. If you hear of anything, or find out about a fix, please post
back here. Thanks.

Hopefully they already know about it. I suspect they must keep tabs on
these forums, but there is probably also a way to send them info directly,
via email and/or their website.

Must be very recent discussion because I Google searched before posting.
Looking at my current set of headers I don't see anything either.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, "immediately under the indicator" is too
imprecise to be relied upon, so I'll just have to avoid it until a fix is
released.

I uninstalled the Q824145 patch today, to get my scroll bar back to normal
until MS releases the fix. What may be of interest, in case MS is not
already aware of it, is that whatever changes they made must also have
affected the Cruise function (of mice that have this feature - e.g. my
Logitech MX500). Cruising is much smoother with the pre-Q824145 patch.
It's too hard to tell if the scroll wheel action was affected as well
because its movements are too discrete/small.
