I'm looking for a tool that can sync folders between my desktop and
laptop. I've seen several (filesync, syncback, karen's replicator,
foldersync, foldershare, etc...) but most of the time my laptop is
shutdown. I need something that will run at laptop boot time and
initiate a sync process as well as being able to schedule the sync at
specific times. Do any of the above have this ability? If so which would
be the best for this purpose?

Thanks,
Mike

I know Karen's will do that because it can be put in the Startup
folder. One of Karen's shortcomings is that it is an application, not
a service so it is tied to the user logging on. If you log out it is
useless.

But the source is available for download, and one API call will
install it as a service. Ask Karen if she'll modify a copy for you.
Or just make sure the computers are both on at some specific time of
day and schedule the backups for then. After the initial full backup
(one of mine of around 40 gigs took over 9 hours) it shouldn't take
more than a few minutes to sync. I run it every day at the office,
just before I leave, to a thumb drive and to the network.
