I am having problems with my monitor. I have this monitor for about 1
month, and have since re-installed my OS (XP Pro), and am still having
the prob. (re-install was for other reasons). It is a ViewSonic
VA2026w, and when the computer tells the monitor to go into standby,
it will turn off, show the no signal message, and then come back on
within 5 seconds. This is very irritating, as everytime I walk away, I
have to remeber to turn off the monitor. If the screensaver is
enebled, it will show the frozen state of the screensaver. If no
screensaver is on, it will show the desktop. Any ideas? Not having any
problems with APM, and as far as I know the BIOS is configured
correctly. Oh, and the previous (15inch CRT) had no problems. How to
fix??

In an effort to locate the problem, first go into control panel, mouse, and
reset the ability to wake from standby. Test!
Then try the keyboard! Check BIOS to ensure all 'wake ons' are not active.
Post back.

Ok, that did not work. tried for both keyboard and mouse. Any more
ideas? like I said before, didn't have a problem with this on previous
monitor.\

Have you gone to manufacturers site and checked for a possible update for
the monitor driver?

Assume the monitor has dual input connectors - are you using a
Analog connector or the DVI ? Either way, I'd check each end
of the cable for bent pins or maybe use a different cable. Might
also be a good idea to change power mgmt "Turn off Monitor"
timer to a low value ( 2-minutes ) and see if the monitor will go
off using that signaling.

No go there. monitor and cable are both less than 30 days old. No bent
pins. Using DVI. My current screensaver is off, powermanagent set to
turn off monitor in 1min.

Based on what you've done it seems pretty likely the monitor may be
defective. Not sure what success you'd have with Viewsonic tech
support but I'd contact them and see what they'll offer you in the way
of a RMA ( Return Merchandise Authorization ). The only other
diagnostic step might be to try and use/test the monitor with another
PC or notebook to verify the power management failure.

errr. I hope not. Im gonna try contacting ViewSonic and see what the
deal is. I ABSOLUTELY HATE contacting customer support. I have to do
it quite frequently, though, it seems. :(
