Monitor shut down unexpectedly, computer continue to work

I've a WinXP Sp2 computer, fully updated, etc.
I've two monitors attach to ABIT ATI Radeon 9600 display adapter. I
just reinstalled windows, and after a short amount of time from
starting it (10 hours is the longest, three minutes the shortest) the
monitors just show the no-signal sign and turn off.

The computer continue to work ( I can hear music being played) and
apperantely is reponsive to keyboard (pressing win+L sounded the log
off sound).

I don't know what can be causing this, I'm using the factory default
drivers, so it's a beta someting.

I've tried to upgrade to the newest drivers, but that doesn't seem to
help.
I checked the error logs, but there is nothing there.

Any suggestiosn?

Most likely the plug or cable is broken. I would try giving the plug a shake.
