Monitor seems to shut off twice after refresh from 3D screen saver.

My monitor seems to shut off twice after refresh from 3D screen saver
and then returns to normal. This started happening yesterday after
installing all the critical updates from Microsoft. I am using a
Toshiba Satellite 2435-S255 laptop. Has anyone else experienced this?

Have you tried different refresh rates on your montior to see if this solves
the problem?
 
I did try different refresh rates and they did not work. I think that
the refresh has nothing to do with a laptop display. I was just
wondering if some else could try it on a laptop running XP.
