Monitor? No Screensaver/No Power down

XP Home SP2
Acer AL1914 monitor

Screensaver selected and time set to 15 minutes.
Power down monitor set for 30 Minutes (Always On power scheme)

The screensaver never activates/the monitor never powers down?

That's likely because the PC does not experience the set amount of idle
time. You either have some software(could be desired or not) running in
the background keeping it awake or some hardware providing
"input"(wireless mouse/keyboards, or vibration od desk).

If you have an optical mouse, try turning it upside down. An optical
mouse is pretty sensitive.

Yup, that did it............. amazing what you guys know out there....
thanks
See we had a CPU meltdown and the new CPU/motherboard is about 3 times
faster than before.
So I guess the mouse "tremors" are now detected with the faster processor.
