In Control Panel/Power Options I have set the monitor to switch off
after 10 minutes - for some reason it no longer works, the monitor
stays on all the time.

I have the screen saver set to come on after 5 minutes - it doesn't.

I've tried changing the timings, but to no avail.

The only change I've made to my system since the problem started was
to change screen savers.
The previous screen saver was Winter Snowflakes which I downloaded
from the Microsoft site.
I first tried just choosing another s/saver and when the monitor did
not switch off, I removed the program using Add/Remove in Control
Panel.

Any help will be much appreciated
Thanks
Pete

Update your video card drivers and monitor drivers.

Pete,

Have you checked the BIOS settings...on some systems the BIOS has power
management settings also. Typically, the power management settins should be
disabled in the BIOS so Windows is not affected.

I dunno, just had that problem for about a week, cleared out the prefetch
folder seemed to instantly fix it... I blamed the sudden lack of it on
OneCare 2/2 update
